The GS-01 exploration licence is located
in the Gujarat-Saurashtra offshore basin off the west coast of
India, NW of prolific Bombay High oil field. The original licence
encompassed 8,841 km2 (5,890 km2 postrelinquishment) and water
depths vary between 80 m and 150 m. The joint venture has
previously acquired 1,216 km2 of 3D seismic data.
As announced on 15 May 2007, the Dhirubhai – 33 discovery
(GS01-B1) flow-tested at a rate of 18.6 MMscfd gas with 415 stbd
of condensate through a 56/64 choke at flowing tubing head
pressure of 1,346 psi.
In March 2001, Reliance and HEPI bid
for 15 licences in the NELP-II licence bidding round and since
then HEPI has retained an interest in one licence, being a 10
per cent. interest in the shallow water GS-01 Block, offshore
Gujarat, with Reliance maintaining a 90 per cent. interest.
